Research Task 1 (06/22/15 - 07/03/15)

NeuroSky Mindwave
The goal for this period is to get familiar with all the NeuroSky Midwave-related hardware, software, apps, and development tools.
  1. Mindwave User Guide, NeuroSky. Learn to set up the headset and use it as the input device. You will need the headset from the school.
  2. NeuroSky Apps (2012), NeuroSky. Download all the free apps and learn from them
  3. Developer Tools 3: iOS. NeuroSky. You will need a Mac computer to run XCode. You can borrow a Macbook Air Laptop from school if needed.
  4. ThinkGear SDK for iOS (2013), NeuroSky. It includes ThinkGear SDK for iOS: Development Guide, ThinkGear SDK for iOS: API, and an example iOS project. These information will be the foundation which your project will be developed upon. Read through all these documents and run the XCode project provided. It can only be fully functional by running on a real iOS device. You can borrow an iPad  from school if needed.

Please take electronic notes while you are studying the materials, watching the videos, or browsing through the web. Each team will present their learning later in the summer meeting.

  2. · Project Description & Merits

The Drone Defense System Practices Utilizing technology to make a system to

recognize drones and shoot them down. This is extremely useful to society and

especially useful for the military. The Drone Defense System must be able to

recognize drones and differentiate them from people. Military uses for this type of

technology include: using it to shoot down missiles, using it to defend from drones

and much more. This type of technology is pivotal to large wartime success and

prevention of mass death and chaos.

    · Group/Team Communication

I currently don't have any members excluding myself in my group. I have no one to

collaborate with and can't collaborate with anyone. I am very limited in this aspect.

    · Prior Work/Resource Inventory

    Done.

    · Technology Analysis
Identify the scientific and technical knowledge/skills involved in your project.

In order to complete the project I have to know how to code and how to partition my drive to Linux. I also have to have hardware knowledge. I will also require knowledge on the eyes of animals and how they work.

    · Competence

I know how to code in 3 languages, have an extensive knowledge on computer

hardware, can disassemble and reassemble any computer so long as I have the

required screwdrivers and/or (suction cup(s)), and am quick to learn in this field. I

don't know too much about linux and C++ coding but I can learn in a few days.

    · Safety

I can't think of any safety issues besides using a dangerous substance as the

weapon for the Drone Defense System.

    · Equipment, materials & budget

I will require a number of programs and technologies. I will need OpenCV (CV = Computer Vision). I will also need Ubuntu

    12.04.

    · Schedule
What are the goals/milestones/plans of your project in the next week? What are the task assignments for each team member?

My goal is to develop a cost-effective system to give my robot vision that enables it to easily differentiate humans from

drones. My assignment is to help make the code to help the drone see. I don't know who my teammates are (if I have any).
